DCVMI Opens New Manufacturing Facility in Cikarang to Support Regional Operations
New Cikarang plant to assemble Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles with CKD kit support from India; aims to enhance regional supply chain efficiency, localisation, and customer-focused product offerings.
Daimler Truck has announced the inauguration of its new manufacturing facility in Indonesia under Daimler Commercial Vehicles Manufacturing Indonesia (DCVMI). Located in the Cikarang Industrial Area, the facility marks a key step in the company’s regional strategy to support commercial vehicle demand across Southeast Asia.
Built on a 15-hectare site with an annual production capacity of 5,000 Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses, the plant represents an investment of IDR 500 billion. The facility will function as a regional assembly and distribution hub and integrates German engineering, Indian manufacturing capabilities, and local Indonesian market understanding.
The Indonesian operations will be supported by Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) in Chennai, which will supply Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits. DICV’s experience in cost-effective, high-quality production is expected to help ensure operational efficiency and adaptability across markets.
Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO of DICV, stated that the Indonesian plant complements Daimler Truck’s long-term plans for Southeast Asia and reiterated India’s continued role as a core export base.
The new facility is designed to enhance workflow and production agility. It features integrated manufacturing systems, a test track to simulate road conditions, and an advanced paint booth, all aligned with Mercedes-Benz global standards.
The plant will assemble Mercedes-Benz Axor trucks—including models such as the 2528 CH, 4928 T, 4028 T, 4023 T, 2528 RMC, 2528 CX, and 2528 C—as well as the OH 1626 L and OH 1626 S bus chassis tailored for the Indonesian market.
