GreenCell Mobility Announces 570-Bus Electric Fleet Expansion in Delhi

GreenCell Mobility (GCM), India's largest electric bus platform and a flagship company in Eversource Capital's portfolio, announced the deployment of 570 electric buses in Delhi over the coming months, strengthening the city's transition to zero-emission public transport infrastructure.

The deployment is supported by an USD 89 million investment round completed by International Finance Corporation (IFC), British International Investment (BII), and Tata Capital, demonstrating institutional confidence in GreenCell Mobility's capacity to deliver scalable electric mobility solutions.

The Delhi Government recently conducted a flag-off event at Ramlila Maidan for 500 electric buses, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Shri Nitin Nabin, National President of BJP. The milestone event marks a significant step in the city's clean public transport transition.

GreenCell Mobility will provide 12-metre, air-conditioned electric city buses with higher battery capacities, designed specifically for Delhi's operating requirements and road conditions. The buses will operate from depots at Rajghat, Dilshad Garden, and Seemapuri, enhancing commuter connectivity across key routes.

Each bus features advanced operational and safety systems, including an Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS), Passenger Information Systems, real-time vehicle tracking, internal and reversing cameras, and infrastructure designed for differently-abled passengers.

Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO of GreenCell Mobility, stated that Delhi's electric bus rollout represents the next phase of India's public transport transition from pilots to scaled, city-wide adoption, showcasing how institutional capital, policy intent, and operational capability can deliver clean mobility at scale.

Beyond Delhi, GreenCell Mobility is executing electric city bus projects across multiple states, including 700 buses in Uttar Pradesh, 582 buses in Madhya Pradesh, 750 buses in Andhra Pradesh, 400 buses in Bihar, 150 buses in Surat, and 75 buses in Puducherry. The company also operates 50 intercity electric buses for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).

GreenCell Mobility currently operates over 1,200 electric buses across intra-city and inter-city routes, supported by more than 270 charging stations nationwide. Following the recent investment round, the company is set to scale its fleet to over 3,700 electric buses under the National E-Bus Program and PM Seva E-Mobility Program.

Through its intercity brand NueGo, GreenCell Mobility operates India's largest premium electric coach service with over 300 electric coaches connecting more than 100 locations nationwide. NueGo coaches offer air-conditioned seating, free amenities, and safety features including speed limiters, CCTV cameras, driver monitoring systems, and a 25-point pre-departure inspection. Each coach delivers a driving range of up to 250 kilometers on a single charge.

Backed by Eversource Capital, GreenCell Mobility continues to accelerate clean public transportation adoption across India through its Electric Mobility-as-a-Service (eMaaS) model, partnering with governments and transport authorities to build zero-emission mobility ecosystems.
