Altair and LG collaborate on advanced analysis tool for automotive components
New integrated solution reduces development time by 20%, enhancing product lifespan and safety prediction
Altair and LG Electronics' Vehicle component Solutions Company have developed an integrated analysis solution aimed at extending product lifespans. This collaboration has reportedly reduced the development time for LG's vehicle infotainment components by over 20% using Altair's OptiStruct software.
Previously, LG Electronics used multiple software tools and models for fatigue damage evaluation, which led to longer analysis times and complex model management. The new solution combines multiphysics-based analysis into a single integrated system.
Sam Mahalingam, Altair's chief technology officer, stated that this collaboration enhances product safety and durability prediction, potentially benefiting various manufacturing industries. LG Electronics contributed its experience in mass-producing vehicle infotainment components to improve the software's accuracy and reliability.
The integrated analysis process is designed to identify potential issues at the design stage and analyze stress and strain in various environments. Sangyong Lee, head of LG Electronics VS division research lab, mentioned that this collaboration combines LG's expertise with Altair's AI-powered engineering technology.
OptiStruct, part of Altair's offering, is described as a structural solver with solutions for various analyses across multiple disciplines. It has been used globally for design optimization and structural performance validation.
While the companies claim significant improvements in efficiency and product lifespan, the real-world impact and adoption of this solution across the industry remain to be seen.
