The company says the vehicle is a rugged, comfortable, safe and stylish workhorse, characterised by everyday practicality, high levels of performance and lowest operating cost. The Xenon Yodha is being billed as “an ideal solution for diverse commercial usage like transporting agricultural produce, poultry, fish, milk, a cash van and also as a service support vehicle at construction sites.”

The Xenon Yodha, which is powered by a common-rail diesel engine is available in multiple variants – 4x2 and 4x4, and single- and double-cab options.

Announcing the launch of the new Tata Xenon Yodha, Ravi Pisharody, executive director – Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, saidWith the introduction of the new Xenon Yodha, we at Tata Motors have a new range of smart pick-ups, which offers customers a winning combination of high profitability and lowest total cost of ownership. Besides bolstering our presence in the growing pick-up space, the new Xenon Yodha will also enable us to partner existing mini-truck customers, who are aspiring for the next phase of growth, to upgrade to a reliable stylish pick-up, particularly in the post-GST regime and on the back of improved road infrastructure, which will see the hub-and- spoke model of distribution, become more and more prominent. The new Xenon Yodha is an ideal workhorse for diverse commercial usage and with this new range, we are confident of extending our lead in the light commercial vehicle category, complementing the success and popularity of the Tata Ace range of small commercial vehicles.”

The Xenon Yodha gets a ground clearance of 210 mm, due to the inclusion of a tubular front axle which also ensures the best maneuverability both on and off-road. Powered by a 3.0-litre engine, the Xenon Yodha develops 53.7 kW (72 hp) in BS III and 63.4 kW (85 hp) in BS IV form. It also delivers a high torque of 223Nm in BS III and 250 Nm in BS IV guise. For better mileage, the pick-up has a reliable and rugged gearbox, for a flat curve at 1600-2200rpm which enables better pickup in loaded conditions and fewer gear shifts.

One of the key highlights of the new vehicle is high gradeability, which enables the vehicle to negotiate any type of terrain in loaded conditions, supported by bigger 16-inch tyres. The durable body is supported by a 4mm chassis frame, with reinforcements and a strong rear axle with unitised double bearing. The additional strong suspension – 5 leaves at the front and 9 leaves at the rear – ensures better safety in loaded conditions and at high speeds.

Driver comfort and ergonomics are claimed to be of a high standard. Highlights include a power steering and an adjustable steering column. The interior has specially designed utility spaces inside the cabin, which are ideal for a convenient driving style.

The smart pick-up has been designed to meet global standards of safety. The vehicle is fitted with antiroll bars for better stability in loaded conditions at high speeds & loaded off road conditions. Other safety features like the unique 3-layered body construction, crumple zones, a collapsible steering column, retractable seatbelts and side intrusion beams, will protect passengers in the event of a side impact collision.

The service interval is increased to 20,000km and there is a higher oil change interval too, which results in more savings and high uptime.

The company also has on offer a ‘Buy Back inaugural offer’, with an assurance of 50 percent of the asset cost, after four years of vehicle usage in captive applications, the first ever in the pick-up space in India. The new vehicle is being offered with a first-in-segment customised AMC package of three years/100,000km (whichever is earlier) and comes with a best-in-industry assured warranty of three years or 300,000 km (whichever is earlier).
