Renault India has announced that customer orders for the entry level Kwid hatchback have crossed over 50,000 in a little more than a month of its launch on September 24.
Renault India has announced that customer orders for the entry level Kwid, with its SUV-like looks and aggressive pricing, have crossed over 50,000 units in a little more than a month of its launch on September 24. Priced at Rs 256,968 (ex- showroom Delhi), the Kwid is claimed to deliver mileage of 25.17kpl. The aggressive pricing is a result of a high localisation level of 98 percent.
Sumit Sawhney, country CEO and managing director, Renault India Operations, said: “I thank Indian customers for their phenomenal response to the Renault Kwid. Deliveries have commenced across India to celebrate the festive season with our customers. We have ramped up production and are taking concerted efforts to further accelerate production to enable faster deliveries.”
“The growing acceptance by first-time buyers indicates that the Kwid is truly an aspirational product, offering an outstanding value proposition. Together with first-time buyers, we are also seeing new consumer trends across urban and rural India,” added Sawhney.
Renault India is also substantially increasing its sales and service network reach in India, with an extensive network of dealers covering over 80 percent of the country. This network currently stands at 180 sales and service facility, and will reach 280 next year.
Production ramp up will help reduce the current waiting period of six to eight months for the Kwid in Delhi and nearby regions. It will be three to four months before customers in Bangalore and Kolkata get their hands on the Kwid. Mumbai has a waiting period of up to six months on all variants.
Available in six trim levels – Standard, RXE, RXE(O), RXL, RXT and RXT(O) – the Kwid is powered by a 54bhp, 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Weighing just 660kg, the Kwid also claims a class-leading fuel-efficiency of 25.17kpl.
The Renault Kwid takes on the Hyundai Eon and Maruti Alto 800 in the entry-level hatchback segment.
