The face-lifted Cayenne, which has been launched by Porsche India, comes with a number of improved features. The SUV is available in four versions: Cayenne Diesel, Cayenne S Diesel, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo.  The Turbo S, which is the most powerful of the Cayenne variants, could be introduced sometime later.

Speaking at the launch, Anil Reddi, director, Porsche India, said, “The new Cayenne embodies the ultimate Porsche traits, class-leading performance and outstanding drivability. No matter the road conditions, the new Cayenne delivers a unique automotive experience and we expect our customers to share in the excitement around this thrilling evolution.”

The latest Cayenne version has been given a sharper design with specific lines and aptly placed light refracting edges. Front body, front wings, bonnet and air blades are also newly shaped.

The new Cayenne features bi-xenon headlights and four-point LED daytime running lights along-with new rear lights and brake lights. The license plate, boot handle and lights are integrated with the boot lid. Additionally, the exhaust tailpipes are incorporated in the lower rear section, while an automatically activating boot lid is fitted as standard.

In the interior, the layout features a multi-function sport steering wheel with shift paddles as standard. The rear seating system has new optional seat ventilation. The new Cayenne features standard elements like air suspension, Porsche Entry and Drive, four-zone auto climate control and panorama sunroof; also featuring added options like soft-close doors, surround camera and the Sport Chrono package, now incorporating Performance Start function.

Porsche says the cars consume significantly less fuel with the help of coasting function, a further advanced auto stop-start function plus (except diesel) and optimized thermal management, with active cooling air flaps. As per specific driving situation and cooling needs, they are opened or closed accordingly.

The Cayenne diesel is powered by a 241.7bhp 3.0-litre V6, while the Cayenne S diesel gets the 4.2-litre V8 that makes 380bhp. As regards the petrol engines, the Cayenne S gets the 414bhp 3.6-litre V6 that also powers the Macan. It replaces the naturally-aspirated 4.8-litre V8 petrol. The flagship Cayenne Turbo continues with the 4.8-litre V8 that develops a whopping 513bhp.

Porsche India is a division of Volkswagen Group Sales India, with its headquarters in Mumbai. It is the official importer for Porsche’s range of luxury sports cars since April 01, 2012. The models are available from the company’s eight authorised sales and service dealers in India, in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
