Emissions and safety to be key topics at SIAT 2017

The 15th Symposium on International Automotive Technology, to be held at the ARAI Campus, Pune from January 18-21, will see over 200 technical papers presented and also showcase products and services from 180 companies from 20 countries.

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), has announced the agenda for the 15th edition of SIAT (Symposium on International Automotive Technology) at a press conference in New Delhi chaired by Girish Shankar, secretary, Department of Heavy Industries, government of India; Rajan Wadhera, president – ARAI and executive VP (R&D and Global Product Development), Mahindra & Mahindra and Rashmi Urdhwareshe, director, ARAI.

SIAT 2017 is being organised by ARAI in association with SAEIndia, NATRiP and SAE International, at its campus in Pune (India) from 18 to 21 January 2017. The theme of the symposium is ‘Smart, Safe and Sustainable Mobility’.

Commenting on the theme of SIAT 2017, Rashmi Urdhwareshe, director, ARAI, said, “The focus of the Indian government on reducing air pollution, encouraging electric mobility, coupled with thrust on reducing road accidents and fatalities through smart and intelligent solutions has driven industry to advance its R&D efforts. SIAT 2017 happening on this backdrop will be an ideal platform for researchers around the globe to put forth and deliberate their ideas to address India-specific and global challenges being faced by the automotive sector. SIAT 2017 is going to be a memorable event in the history of ARAI, since ARAI is celebrating its golden jubilee. We are expecting participation of over 1,200 delegates from over 20 countries and presentation of over 200 technical papers, including keynotes by eminent experts worldwide.”

Global forum for knowledge sharing

SIAT serves as an important global forum for sharing ideas and knowledge, concerning promising areas of automotive engineering and technology, wherein eminent global experts present keynote and technical papers in multiple sessions.

Inauguration of SIAT 2017 and SIAT Expo 2017 is scheduled on Wednesday, January 18, in the presence of senior officials of the government of India, industry leaders, heads of research institutes and SAE International.

The plenary session on ‘Safe Mobility’ will be held on January 19, 2017. Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD), will be the chief guest.

The valedictory function of SIAT 2017 and SIAT Expo 2017 is scheduled on January 21, 2017. Anant Geete, Minister, Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, government of India, will be the chief guest and Mrs. Eva Molnar, director, Sustainable Transport Division, UN-ECE, Geneva, will be the guest of honour.

SIAT Expo 2017 will have 180 exhibition booths, where a spectrum of worldwide companies will showcase automotive products, technologies and services in areas such as emissions, vehicular safety / crash, electric mobility, vehicle telematics, advanced T&M equipment, NVH simulation and modeling.
