Top-notch technology speakers to hold sway at iTEC India 2015

Top-notch technology speakers to hold sway at iTEC India 2015

The first International Transportation Electrification Conference (iTEC India 2015), which to be held at the Le Royal Meridien, Chennai from August 27 to 29, is to have a galaxy of eminent speakers from the automotive industry. The three-day conference is being organised by the Society of Automotive Engineers India (SAEINDIA) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Industry Applications Society.

The speakers include Ambuj Sharma, additional secretary, Department of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, government of India; Dr Aravind Bharadwaj, general chair, Steering Committee, iTEC India and president, SAEINDIA; Tomy Sebastian, president, IEEE Industry Applications Society and Dr David Schutt, CEO, SAE International. A roadshow presenting the latest electric vehicles in India will be flagged off during the event. Rajan Wadhera, president and chief executive (Truck & Powertrain), Mahindra & Mahindra, will deliver the valedictory address.

Other speakers who will make presentations include Dr Mahesh Krishnamurthy of the Illinois Institute of Technology; Prof. Jin Woo Ahn from Korea; Dr. Yu Yuan, chair of ITEC Asia; Patric Mccarren, executive director, IEEE IAS, US; Michael Poznanski, Chief Technology Officer, Volkswagen India; Naritomo Higuchi, Honda R&D, Japan; Brian McMurray, director, General Motors; R K Shenoy, senior vice-president, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions; and Steven Dom, manager, Global Automotive, Siemens amongst others. 

According to Dr Aravind Bharadwaj, general chair, Steering Committee iTEC India and president, SAEINDIA, “The government of India has set the challenging goal of achieving 6-7 million sales of hybrid and electric vehicles year on year from 2020 onwards. While monetary incentives and investments are important to realise this ambition, technology innovation and advancements are even more crucial at this stage to shape the growth trajectory of electro-mobility adoption in the country.”

Autocar Professional, as a media partner for this key industry event, will moderate a panel discussion on August 28.

iTEC India 2015 will bring together key stakeholders from public and private institutions as well as academia and research to catalyse the transformation of the conventional mobility industry towards electrified, sustainable mobility, in alignment with the government of India’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020. Anant Gangaram Geete, Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, will also be present at the event.

iTEC India 2015 is supported by the Department of Heavy Industries, Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME), a part of the NEMMP, Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles(SMEV), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA).
