German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz, which introduced the 2023 GLC in India on August 9, is bullish on the demand for the SUV, which until end-2022 was the best-selling model in the company's India line-up. The company has received over 1,500 bookings for the new GLC within a fortnight, taking its total order book in the range of 3,500-4,000 cars.

Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, talks about how the company is geared to minimise wait times for its customers, while also looking to introduce an AMG version of the SUV in 2024. The company is witnessing strong demand for diesels in the SUV category, wherein the fuel comprises up to 40 percent of the total volumes.

Iyer also talks about how the global headwinds in terms of geo-political tensions, and supply chain constraints, could impact supplies, however, it is confident of registering another record year in 2023 with respect to sales volumes.
