OPmobility is exploring opportunities to expand its product portfolio in India beyond its existing fuel tank and exterior systems businesses as it targets doubling its annual revenue in the country over the next five years.
In an exclusive conversation with Autocar Professional, Christian Kopp, Global Chief Operating Officer, OPmobility, said the company currently generates slightly over €200 million in annual revenue from India and sees opportunities to grow through existing customers, new products and additional manufacturing capacity.
The company is opening its sixth manufacturing plant in India at Kharkhoda, dedicated to supplying fuel tanks to Maruti Suzuki. Kopp indicated that further manufacturing investments could follow as the company expands its business in the country.
OPmobility is also evaluating opportunities to introduce products from its expanded global portfolio, including integrated exterior systems incorporating lighting, ADAS and software, as well as battery pack and hydrogen technologies. Kopp said the addition of higher-value products could potentially take India revenue beyond the company’s current doubling target.
On potential acquisitions, Kopp said OPmobility would evaluate opportunities in India, although its immediate priority remains integrating its recent global acquisitions.
He also expressed confidence in the company’s growth prospects, citing its order pipeline for 2027 and 2028 and India’s expanding automotive market.
