A veteran in the automotive industry, Alfonso Albaisa is the senior vice-president and head of global design at Nissan Motor Co. A Cuban immigrant to the US, he has spent over three decades with a Japanese OEM -- Nissan. He also happens to be the first non-Japanese head of a design team at any of the major Japanese OEMs. He spoke to Sumantra B Barooah recently on his visit to Chennai to launch the 'Roots of Design' program.
