In Conversation with Tata Motors' Mohan Savarkar

With a multi-powertrain approach on the ICE Curvv coupe-SUV, Tata Motors aims to carve out a notable slice of India's midsize SUV segment pie.

Tata Motors, which launched the petrol- and diesel-powered Curvv coupe-SUV on September 2, eyes a notable slice of the midsize SUV segment that is presently the sweet spot of growth in the Indian passenger vehicle market. 

The company is aiming to woo premium buyers with its feature-rich offering that comes equipped with Level-2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, and an electric tailgate, among others. According to Mohan Savarkar, Chief Product Officer and Vice President, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, "We want to be a significant player and attain a podium position in the midsize SUV segment with the Curvv."

Savarkar also talks about the company's readiness in terms of catering to the growing demand for automatic transmissions, as well as witnessing an initial phase of volume discovery with the Curvv, owing to its unique coupe-SUV body style that differentiates it from other market offerings.
