After meeting success with the introduction of its XC40 Recharge all-electric crossover, Swedish carmaker Volvo is set to launch the C40 Recharge in India, and is hopeful of replicating success with its latest model in the country. The carmaker, which envisions half of its total car sales in India to come from EVs by 2025, intends to expand its electric product portfolio to enable more customers to adopt EVs in the country.
Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India talks about how the company has already achieved 25 percent EV sales contribution in the first half of CY23, and plans to bring one EV every year to the market. Malhotra further adds that given the conducive environment for EVs with several incentives on offer, customers are increasingly shifting to EVs, and as an OEM, Volvo Car India aims to be a BEV-only player by 2030. The company is optimistic about CY23, and while is betting big on market demand, it cautions about supply-side constraints.
