Zuno General Insurance Integrates ‘Pay How You Drive’ as a Standard Feature in Motor Policies
The insurer introduces Zuno SmartDrive, incorporating mobile telematics into car insurance at no additional cost. Policyholders can track driving behavior through the Zuno app, with safer driving potentially leading to lower premiums and renewal discounts.
Zuno General Insurance, formerly known as Edelweiss General Insurance, has introduced Zuno SmartDrive, integrating the Pay-How-You-Drive (PHYD) feature into its motor insurance policies. The company has become the first insurer in India to offer mobile telematics as a built-in component of car insurance at no additional cost.
Previously available as an add-on, the PHYD feature is now automatically included in all new and renewing policies. It utilizes mobile telematics to assess driving behavior based on factors such as speed, braking patterns, and distractions. Policyholders can track their driving scores through the Zuno app, which provides insights into driving habits and potential areas for improvement. Safer driving can lead to lower premiums, offering financial benefits to responsible drivers.
Zuno SmartDrive is designed to personalize premium calculations, moving away from a standard pricing model where all drivers are charged the same rates. The insurer states that the integration of PHYD allows policyholders to have greater control over their insurance costs, aligning premiums with actual driving behavior.
In addition to renewal discounts, policyholders can qualify for weekly and monthly rewards based on their driving scores, which are reflected in a leaderboard on the Zuno app. The company believes that this approach not only incentivizes safe driving but also makes car insurance more adaptable to individual driving patterns.
With this initiative, Zuno General Insurance aims to provide a more data-driven and personalized insurance experience, offering customers a structured way to monitor their driving behavior and optimize their coverage costs.
