Zingbus Expands Green Mobility with Electric Buses and Sustainability Measures

Zingbus, an intercity mobility platform in India, is expanding its sustainability efforts as electric vehicle adoption and climate action increasingly influence long-distance transportation in the country.

The company has been deploying electric intercity buses on select high-demand routes while integrating bio-toilet systems across multiple services. This approach combines zero-tailpipe-emission transportation with improved onboard hygiene and water conservation measures.

According to the company, these initiatives have helped neutralise over 593,000 kg of CO₂ emissions, as measured in partnership with climate-impact partner Climes. The environmental impact achieved is equivalent to growing 9,786 saplings over 10 years, avoiding 272,835 days of household electricity consumption, and diverting 25,207 bags of waste from landfills through recycling efforts.

"At zingbus, sustainability is being built into the very foundation of intercity travel. From deploying electric buses on long-distance corridors to integrating bio-toilets and climate-positive operations, our focus is on translating intent into measurable impact," said Prashant Kumar, Co-founder of zingbus.

Kumar added that as India's EV ecosystem develops, the company remains committed to scaling solutions that reduce emissions, conserve resources, and make greener intercity mobility accessible for travellers.

The company is currently in advanced stages of deploying electric buses on high-demand intercity corridors, including the Delhi-Amritsar route. This demonstrates the application of electric mobility for long-distance travel beyond urban environments.

The bio-toilet systems introduced across services aim to enhance passenger comfort while addressing sanitation and water conservation requirements for long-haul journeys.

As state-level EV policies create supportive frameworks for cleaner mobility, zingbus continues aligning its operations with long-term sustainability objectives, embedding environmental considerations into route planning and operational practices.
