Zeno Unveils First Electric Motorcycle at ₹1.19 Lakh, Targets 2025 Deliveries

Bengaluru-based electric mobility and energy start-up Zeno has launched its first electric motorcycle, the Emara, aimed at competing in the 100cc–150cc commuter segment. The vehicle is priced at ₹1.19 lakh (ex-showroom) and is also available at a lower ₹79,000 (ex-showroom) under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. The company is currently offering introductory pricing of ₹1 lakh for the first 5,000 bookings and ₹64,000 for the BaaS version.

Although the motorcycle was unveiled in New Delhi, retail deliveries are scheduled to begin only by the end of calendar year 2025. The Emara is designed and developed across Zeno’s R&D centers in San Francisco and Bengaluru, and is being produced at a 600-unit-per-month facility in Manesar, Haryana.

Founded over two years ago, Zeno initially explored markets in Kenya, Uganda, India, and Bangladesh before raising its first capital round of US$9.5 million at the end of 2024. Backed by investors such as Lower Carbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, and Trifecta Capital, the company is planning another funding round to support its scaling plans across multiple geographies.

The Emara has a payload capacity of 250 kg and is powered by two 2kWh swappable lithium iron phosphate battery packs, each rated for over 3,000 charge cycles. In addition to a bundled home charger, Zeno is investing in battery-swapping infrastructure. The company showcased an automated swap station in New Delhi, featuring 10 slots and RFID-based access.

Zeno will begin its Indian retail operations in Bengaluru, targeting six stores and at least 100 swap stations before deliveries start. Expansion to other urban and rural markets, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, is planned.

With India as a manufacturing and R&D hub, Zeno intends to supply both domestic and overseas markets. It is projecting annual production capacity to reach 50,000–70,000 units by end-2025. Having achieved positive unit economics in its energy division, the company aims for 100% CAGR growth over the next five years.
