Yulu has launched its electric vehicle services in Zirakpur, Punjab, marking the company's entry into North India through its first franchise partnership in the region. SP NexGen, led by mobility entrepreneur Sahil Goyal, will operate Yulu's DeX goods mobility electric vehicles and technology platform in the area.

The launch represents an expansion of Yulu's Business Partner initiative, which has previously established operations in Central, South, West and East India over the past year. Zirakpur's location between Chandigarh, Panchkula and Ambala positions it as a strategic entry point for the Tricity region.

The service targets the delivery sector, providing electric vehicles for grocery and food delivery companies and gig workers. Yulu has established partnerships with major delivery platforms including Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto and Blinkit to support the launch.

SP NexGen will initially deploy vehicles in Zirakpur before expanding to Peer Muchalla and Kharar. The company conducted pilot programs with various brands' distribution centers in Zirakpur to assess market demand before the full launch.

Yuma Energy will support the fleet through two battery swapping stations, with additional stations planned as operations scale. The partnership includes Yulu providing training on operations, unit economics and business development to SP NexGen.

Founded in 2017, Yulu operates shared electric mobility services in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Hyderabad. The company reports that users have traveled over 1.3 billion kilometers on its platform, contributing to a reduction of 45 million kilograms of CO2 emissions. With the Zirakpur launch, Yulu now operates in ten cities, including six through franchise partnerships.

The expansion comes as urban centers increasingly seek sustainable delivery solutions amid growing e-commerce and quick commerce demand. Chandigarh Tricity has shown policy support for electric vehicle adoption, aligning with environmental initiatives in the region.
