Yamaha Launches New YZF-R2 in India, Priced from Rs 2.30 Lakh

Launched as part of its global debut, the YZF-R2 will be part of the 200cc supersport segment with three variants, prices starting from Rs 2.30 Lakh.

Yamaha Launches New YZF-R2 in India, Priced from Rs 2.30 Lakh

India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has introduced the all-new YZF-R2 in India, marking the motorcycle's global debut and expanding the brand's supersport lineup into the 200cc category.

The motorcycle is offered in three variants, with introductory prices starting at Rs 2,30,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The mid-spec variant equipped with a bi-directional quick-shifter is priced at Rs 2,39,500, while the range-topping YZF-R2M retails at Rs 2,53,000. Five colour choices are available across the range: Metallic Black, Dark Bluish Gray, Matte White Pearl, Racing Blue, and an exclusive Metallic Gray for the M variant.

The YZF-R2 is built on a high-tensile steel tube diamond frame that weighs 14 kg, contributing to an overall kerb weight of 149 kg. Power comes from a newly engineered 204cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-valve, DOHC engine that produces 26.5 PS of power and 19.1 Nm of peak torque.

Standard equipment across all variants includes 37 mm upside-down (USD) front forks, a rear monoshock, dual-channel ABS, a traction control system, an assist and slipper clutch, 17-inch wheels, and Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) featuring Street, Sport, and Rain ride modes. Instrumentation is handled by a 5-inch full-colour TFT display.

The top-spec YZF-R2M adds an adjustable suspension setup (front fork and rear damper), adjustable clutch and brake levers, a smart key system, a silver-finished swingarm, and a faux-suede seat.

The YZF-R2 will be sold exclusively through Yamaha's Blue Square (BSQ) retail dealership network across India, with customer availability commencing from mid-September 2026.
