Yamaha Introduces Hybrid Technology to FZ-X Motorcycle Model

India Yamaha Motor announced the launch of the 2025 FZ-X motorcycle equipped with hybrid engine technology on July 14, 2025. The hybrid variant features a Smart Motor Generator and Stop & Start System, priced at INR 1,49,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and available in Matte Titan color.

The hybrid system includes automatic engine shutdown during idle periods and battery-assisted acceleration to improve fuel efficiency. The motorcycle restarts with clutch action, providing quieter operation compared to conventional models. These features represent Yamaha's expansion of hybrid technology following its introduction in the FZ-S Fi Hybrid model earlier this year.

The 2025 FZ-X incorporates a 4.2-inch color TFT instrument cluster that connects to smartphones through Yamaha's Y-Connect application. The display includes turn-by-turn navigation integrated with Google Maps, providing real-time directions, navigation details, and road information for riders.

For customers preferring conventional engines, Yamaha will continue offering the standard FZ-X variant at INR 1,29,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi) in Dark Matte Blue and Metallic Black colors. Both versions feature the same 149cc air-cooled, fuel-injected engine producing 12.4PS of power at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm of torque at 5,500rpm.

The FZ-X includes safety features such as Traction Control System and single-channel ABS. The motorcycle uses telescopic front suspension and seven-step adjustable Monocross rear suspension. The seat design incorporates slip-resistant materials with a two-level configuration.

Itaru Otani, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group, stated that the hybrid technology extension to the FZ-X model follows positive customer response to the FZ-S Fi Hybrid. The company aims to address rider demands for practical and connected mobility solutions through technological integration.

India Yamaha Motor operates as a subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. Japan, with manufacturing facilities in Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. The company's current motorcycle portfolio includes models ranging from 125cc to 321cc displacement across various categories including sport, naked, and scooter segments.

The hybrid FZ-X launch represents Yamaha's continued investment in alternative powertrain technology for the Indian motorcycle market, where fuel efficiency and connectivity features influence consumer purchasing decisions.
