Volkswagen India to Launch All-New Tayron R-Line SUV in First Quarter
The German automaker's new flagship seven-seater SUV will be locally assembled at its Maharashtra plant.
Volkswagen India has announced plans to launch the all-new Tayron R-Line, a premium seven-seater SUV that will serve as the brand's flagship offering in the country. The vehicle is scheduled to debut in the first quarter of 2026.
The Tayron R-Line will be positioned at the top of Volkswagen's SUV lineup in India, targeting customers in the premium seven-seater segment who prioritize space, comfort, and luxury. The SUV will be locally assembled at the company's manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
According to Nitin Kohli, Brand Director at Volkswagen India, the introduction of the Tayron R-Line represents the company's commitment to meeting the changing preferences of Indian car buyers. The local assembly strategy is aimed at maintaining competitive pricing in the market.
The new SUV combines family-friendly versatility with the sporty aesthetics of Volkswagen's R-Line trim. The vehicle features distinctive R-Line design elements and what the company describes as a bold, athletic appearance. Volkswagen positions the Tayron R-Line as a vehicle that offers both a commanding road presence and practical functionality for families.
The launch adds to Volkswagen India's current portfolio, which includes the Taigun, Virtus, Tiguan R-Line, and Golf GTI models. With the Tayron R-Line, the automaker aims to strengthen its presence in India's growing premium SUV segment.
Further specifications and pricing details are expected to be announced closer to the launch date.
