VIDA Launches Comprehensive EV Ownership Services Across India
Hero MotoCorp subsidiary introduces extended warranties, assured buyback, and charging subscriptions.
VIDA, Hero MotoCorp's electric vehicle division, launched a comprehensive suite of ownership services on September 23, 2025, designed to enhance the electric vehicle ownership experience across India. The services include extended warranties up to five years, assured buyback with up to 67.5% resale value, and subscription-based charging access through over 3,600 stations nationwide.
The announcement comes as India's electric two-wheeler market continues rapid expansion, with manufacturers focusing on addressing consumer concerns about battery performance, resale values, and charging infrastructure. VIDA's initiative targets key ownership barriers that have historically limited EV adoption in the Indian market.
Hero MotoCorp, India's largest motorcycle manufacturer by volume, established VIDA as its dedicated electric mobility division to compete in the growing electric two-wheeler segment. The company faces competition from established players including Ola Electric, Ather Energy, and TVS Motor Company's iQube series.
The comprehensive extended warranty covers up to five years or 75,000 kilometers, including 11 critical components, while dedicated battery warranty extends to five years or 60,000 kilometers. These warranties address consumer concerns about long-term reliability and maintenance costs in India's diverse operating conditions.
VIDA's assured buyback program guarantees up to 67.5% of the original ex-showroom price after three years of ownership, providing financial certainty for customers concerned about electric vehicle resale values. The program aims to build confidence in EV investments by offering transparent exit options.
The VIDA Edge subscription service provides unlimited fast charging access across the company's network and over 40 connected features through mobile applications. Customers can monitor battery health, locate charging stations, and receive over-the-air software updates as part of the service.
VIDA has also expanded its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, allowing customers to finance the scooter chassis and battery separately. This approach reduces upfront costs by converting them into monthly payments, addressing the price sensitivity of Indian consumers.
Kausalya Nandakumar, Chief Business Officer, Emerging Mobility Business Unit, said: "At VIDA, our mission is to democratize electric mobility, by making it truly accessible and affordable for every customer. With our value-added services such as extended battery warranty, assured buyback, and comprehensive roadside assistance, we are removing barriers and simplifying the transition to sustainable mobility. This festive season, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering customers with solutions that make EV ownership effortless and dependable."
The services include 24/7 roadside assistance covering flat tires, discharged batteries, and mechanical faults with nationwide coverage and towing services. The support system addresses range anxiety and reliability concerns common among first-time EV buyers.
VIDA's recently launched VX2 model, marketed as "Badalte India ka Scooter," has received positive market response according to the company. The scooter combines traditional reliability with electric innovation and the BaaS financing model.
The services will be available through VIDA's dealership network and digital platforms, providing integrated access to the electric vehicle ecosystem. The launch coincides with India's festive season, typically a peak period for vehicle purchases.
