Varroc Engineering recorded a 47.1 percent year-on-year drop in consolidated net profit after tax to Rs 33.50 crore for Q2 FY27, down from Rs 63.30 crore in Q2 FY26.
Sequentially, net profit fell 56.9 percent from Rs 77.70 crore reported in Q1 FY27. The decline in bottom-line net profit was primarily driven by an exceptional charge of Rs 63.10 crore during the quarter to cover manufacturing restructuring costs and past tax-related liabilities associated with its two-wheeler lighting subsidiary in Italy.
Consolidated revenue from operations for Q2 FY27 reached Rs 2,947.90 crore, up 33.6 percent year-on-year from Rs 2,207.30 crore in Q2 FY26 and 11.9 percent higher sequentially than Rs 2,634.20 crore in Q1 FY27, representing the company's highest quarterly revenue post-divestment.
Operating expenses before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation expanded 34 percent year-on-year to Rs 2,686.80 crore compared to Rs 2,005.50 crore in the prior-year quarter, driven by higher operational throughput and commodity price inflation.
Prior to exceptional items and joint venture profits, profit before tax (PBT) rose 53.6 percent year-on-year to Rs 140.10 crore, supported by operational efficiencies and ramp-ups in new programmes.
The company's electric mobility business continued to scale, with products supplied to electric vehicle (EV) models contributing approximately 19 percent of consolidated revenue in Q2 FY27, up from 16 percent in Q1 FY27, as EV-related revenues grew roughly 130 percent year-on-year.
Notes to the financial statement highlighted that the Italian restructuring initiative involves relocating two-wheeler lighting production from Italy to Romania and Vietnam to optimize capacity utilization and fixed-cost absorption.
"The restructuring of our Italy operations is aimed at creating a more efficient manufacturing footprint," Tarang Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Varroc Engineering, said. He added that "our priorities remain clear: grow profitably, improve margins, generate free cash flow, maintain capital discipline and enhance return on capital employed."
