Uno Minda Reshuffles Senior Management, Approves Renewable Energy Investment

The board approved an investment of up to INR 750.20 lacs, in one or more tranches, in the equity shares of four SPVs engaged in wind and solar power generation.

Uno Minda Limited, in a board meeting today, approved two key matters: changes to its senior management structure and an investment in Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) for renewable energy sourcing.

Management Changes

Three senior-level role changes take effect from April 1, 2026.

Rakesh Kher, who has served as CEO of the Aftermarket Domain, moves to the role of Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and Advisor — Aftermarket Domain. Kher holds a B.Tech from REC Rourkela, an M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur, and an MBA from FMS Delhi. He has over 40 years of experience in strategy, manufacturing, and aftermarket sales, and has been with Uno Minda since 2004. Prior to joining the company, he worked with Larsen & Toubro, Cookson India Limited, and Advani Oerlikon Limited.

Vishal Kaul, previously Business Head of the Aftermarket Domain, has been elevated to CEO — Aftermarket Domain, and formally identified as Senior Management Personnel. Kaul has over 25 years of experience across automotive aftermarket, consumer electronics, and industrial products. He holds a Post-Graduate Programme in Management from ISB Hyderabad and a BE (Mechanical) from V.J.T.I., University of Mumbai. He has previously worked with Crompton Lighting, Samsung India Electronics, Nokia, and Thermax.

Vishnu Johri, who was serving as Deputy CEO of the LAS Domain, moves to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) for 4W Lighting and the Asean region. Johri has over 30 years of experience in operations and strategic management in the automotive sector. He holds a BE (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani and has previously held leadership roles at Tata Motors, Maruti Udyog, Hero Motors, Genpact, Motherson Group, and LUMAX.

Renewable Energy Investment

The board approved an investment of up to INR 750.20 lacs, in one or more tranches, in the equity shares of four SPVs engaged in wind and solar power generation. The investment will be made by Uno Minda Limited and two of its subsidiaries — Uno Mindarika Private Limited and Uno Minda Kyoraku Limited — to source open-access renewable power for their units in Haryana and Tamil Nadu.

The breakdown of investments is as follows: Uno Minda Limited will invest INR 630 lacs in Hexa Energy MH7 Private Limited (Haryana units) and INR 0.20 lacs in RC Green Powers Private Limited (Tamil Nadu unit); Uno Mindarika Private Limited will invest INR 70 lacs in Hexa Energy MH11 Private Limited; and Uno Minda Kyoraku Limited will invest INR 50 lacs in Hexa Energy MH2 Private Limited. Each entity will acquire up to 30% equity in its respective SPV, based on proportionate capacity allocation. The acquisitions are expected to be completed by Q2 of FY 2026-27.
