Uno Minda Clears ₹1,415‑cr Capex, ₹1,100‑cr Fundraising

Uno Minda Limited's board of directors, at a meeting held in Manesar, Gurugram on Monday, September 14, 2026, approved Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for four manufacturing projects entailing a combined capital expenditure of approximately Rs 1,415 crore, along with the issuance of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) of up to Rs 600 crore and Commercial Papers of up to Rs 500 crore. 

New Alloy Wheel Plant, Kharkhoda

The board approved a DPR for a two-wheeler alloy wheel plant at Kharkhoda, Haryana, with an incremental capex of about Rs 155 crore. The plant will have an annual capacity of 1.3 million wheels, taking total AW2W capacity to 9.3 million wheels a year, and will include relocation of 2.0 million units of existing capacity from Supa, Maharashtra.

Capacity utilisation at the existing 8 million-wheel AW2W facility currently stands at approximately 70%. The capacity is to be added in a phased manner, with start of production (SOP) targeted for Q4 FY2028.

By comparison, the company's most recent alloy wheel project — a four-wheeler facility approved in February 2026 at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, carried a higher capex of Rs 764 crore for a phased capacity of up to 1.8 million wheels annually.

Greenfield Casting Facility, Hosur

A new greenfield facility for the Casting Division was approved at Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an estimated incremental capex of Rs 510 crore. The facility will add 20,557 MT of annual capacity — more than 1.5 times the existing 13,255 MT capacity, which is currently running at full utilisation.

The new plant will produce components for engine, EV/powertrain, structural and general applications, along with HPDC two-wheeler alloy wheels. Existing Hosur casting operations will be consolidated and relocated to the new facility by Q1 FY2029.

This follows an earlier, smaller Hosur casting expansion approved in February 2025, which had added capacity up to 15,000 MT per annum for a capex of Rs 65.59 crore.

Capacity Expansion, Bengaluru

The board approved a capacity expansion at the Bengaluru plant of subsidiary Uno Minda Kyoraku Limited, involving an estimated capex of Rs 80 crore. The project will add 1.38 million units of annual capacity to the existing 3.28 million units, which is running at 91.9% utilisation. SOP is targeted for Q1 FY2028.

A DPR was also approved for Toyoda Gosei South India Private Limited (TGSIN), a subsidiary of associate company Toyoda Gosei Uno Minda India Pvt Ltd — to set up a facility at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, for manufacturing interior and exterior automotive products, airbags, hoses and body sealing parts.

The project involves an estimated capex of Rs 670 crore. It will add 1.5 lakh units of annual capacity to the existing 4.5 lakh units, which is running at approximately 90% utilisation, with SOP targeted for Q4 FY2029.

Fundraising Approvals

Separately, the board approved issuance of listed NCDs of up to Rs 600 crore in one or more tranches, with tenure, coupon and security terms to be determined by the company's NCD Committee. It also approved issuance of Commercial Papers, listed or unlisted, up to a revolving limit of Rs 500 crore, from time to time. In February 2025, the company had received in-principle board approval for NCDs of up to Rs 500 crore, indicating a step-up in the current fundraising limit.

All four capex projects are to be funded through a mix of term loans and internal accruals, with the company citing business growth and customer demand as the rationale across each disclosure.
