Uber has reported a substantial increase in the use of its pre-scheduled ride feature, Uber Reserve, across India during 2024. The company noted nearly a 200% year-on-year growth in bookings, as more riders opted for the predictability of advance travel planning.
Airport drop-offs continued to be the dominant use case, accounting for about 40% of all Reserve rides last year. Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai saw the highest usage, with one in four airport drop-offs now taking place via Reserve.
The service also saw a noticeable rise in demand around festivals, wedding seasons, and exam periods. Reserve bookings increased by nearly 15% ahead of public holidays, while intercity travel surged by 40% during Diwali and by 30% over long weekends.
According to Shweta Mantri, Head of Rider Verticals at Uber India and South Asia, users are increasingly valuing flexibility and certainty in their travel plans. She noted that Uber Reserve is serving a broad range of needs, from early-morning airport runs to scheduled work commutes and family events.
In 2024, the average lead time for Reserve bookings was about nine hours. Some riders scheduled their trips as far as 89 days in advance. Popular booking times included 4–6 AM for flights and 7–10 AM for office commutes.
Uber Reserve rides booked through the Uber for Business platform also rose by 140% year-on-year, now accounting for 10% of all Reserve trips. Chennai had the highest proportion of Reserve trips overall, followed by Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
With wider adoption across both personal and business travel, Uber Reserve is positioned to play a larger role in how urban commuters in India plan their journeys.
