TVS records 18 percent fall In Jan sales
Sales of premium two-wheelers were affected by the chips shortage
TVS Motor Company registered domestic sales of 167,795 units in January 2022. This is a 18 percent drop in the YoY basis where it sold 205,216 units in January 2021. In the month on month basis, the Chennai based company had a 14 percent growth selling 146,763 units in December 2021. Total two-wheelers registered sales of 254,139 units in January 2022 as against sales of 294,596 units in the same period last year.
Motorcycle sales registered 137,360 units compared to 136,790 units in January 2021. Around 80,580 units of scooters were sold in January 2022 were sold as against sales of 98,319 units in January 2021.
The company said the production and sales of premium two-wheelers were affected due to the shortage of semiconductors.
