TVS Motor Company, one of India's leading two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturers, has reported impressive sales growth across all segments for April 2025, a month when it managed to beat Ola and Bajaj to be No.1 in EV 2-wheeler sales on Vahan portal.
Overall Performance Shows Double-Digit Growth
According to the company's official sales update released today, TVS registered a total sales growth of 16%, with volumes increasing from 383,615 units in April 2024 to 443,896 units in April 2025.
The company's two-wheeler segment registered 15% growth year-on-year, with sales rising from 374,592 units to 430,330 units. Domestic two-wheeler sales increased by 7%, reaching 323,647 units compared to 301,449 units in the same period last year.
Electric Vehicle Division Outpaces Overall Growth
The standout performer in TVS's portfolio continues to be its electric vehicle division, which recorded a remarkable 59% growth. EV sales jumped from 17,403 units in April 2024 to 27,684 units in April 2025, highlighting the company's growing strength in the zero-emission mobility space.
Vahan portal data (which tracks retail registrations) showed actual retail sales of TVS electric two-wheelers at 19,736 units, a 154% year-on-year growth compared to 7,762 units in April 2024. This disparity between wholesale shipments (27,684 units) and retail registrations (19,736 units) suggests that TVS is continued strong demand in the coming months.
According to Vahan data, TVS's market share in the electric two-wheeler segment has increased significantly, jumping from 12% in April 2024 to 22% in April 2025. The company has reportedly narrowly topped the EV sales charts for the first time, edging past Ola Electric by just 27 units.
Industry analysts note that TVS recorded its highest single-day sales of 1,534 units on April 30, coinciding with the Akshaya Tritiya festival, traditionally considered auspicious for new purchases.
Strong Export and Three-Wheeler Performance
TVS's international business also showed robust growth, with total exports increasing by 45% from 80,508 units to 116,880 units. Two-wheeler exports specifically grew by 46%, rising from 73,143 units to 106,683 units.
The three-wheeler segment wasn't far behind, registering a 50% growth with sales increasing from 9,023 units to 13,566 units year-on-year.
Product-Wise Performance
Breaking down the two-wheeler segment further:
- Motorcycle sales grew by 17%, increasing from 188,110 units to 220,527 units
- Scooter sales rose by 18%, from 144,126 units to 169,741 units
The company is reportedly preparing to launch several new EV models in the coming quarters, as mentioned by K.N. Radhakrishnan, Director and CEO of TVS Motor Company, in a recent earnings call.
TVS is also aggressively expanding its EV dealer network, currently estimated at around 950 touchpoints across India, to support its growing electric vehicle business.
As the company continues to strengthen its position in both domestic and international markets across traditional and electric segments, TVS appears well-positioned to maintain its growth trajectory through 2025.
