Triumph Trident 800: Engine and performance
The Trident 800 uses the 798cc inline-three-cylinder engine shared with the Tiger Sport 800. It produces 115hp at 10,750rpm and 84Nm of torque at 8,500rpm.
The engine is housed in a steel perimeter frame, with suspension duties handled by a 41mm Showa SFF-BP upside-down fork and a rear monoshock.
Triumph Trident 800: Features and electronics
The motorcycle gets a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), enabling lean-sensitive cornering ABS and traction control. Three riding modes, Road, Sport and Rain, are also available, along with cruise control and Bluetooth connectivity. Instrumentation comes in the form of a 3.5-inch TFT display, which is smaller than the 5-inch unit offered on the Street Triple R.
Triumph Trident 800 vs Street Triple R
At its starting price of Rs 10.95 lakh, the Trident 800 costs around Rs 10,000 more than the Street Triple R in India.
Although their performance figures are comparable on paper, the Trident 800 is 9kg heavier. Its steel perimeter frame also differs from the Street Triple R’s aluminium twin-spar construction. The Street Triple R additionally gets fully adjustable suspension and a larger TFT display.
