Toyota, Lexus recall 6,309 cars in India over 360-degree camera glitch

Toyota’s voluntary recall campaign has now been expanded to 6,309 vehicles comprising of 4,863 Toyotas and 1,446 Lexus cars. Apart from the Camry which was recalled a few days ago, the newly added models to the same recall now include the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Vellfire, as well as the Lexus RX, NX, and LM. The latest recall affects 1,862 units of the Vellfire, 744 Land Cruisers, 745 Lexus RXs, 443 NXs, and 258 LMs, in addition to the 2,257 Camrys already recalled earlier.

According to Toyota, these vehicles share the same software issue in the parking assist ECU that controls the 360-degree camera display. The glitch can cause the image on the infotainment screen to freeze while reversing, or fail to display entirely if the ignition is turned on or off within a specific time window.

All the affected models sit at the upper end of Toyota and Lexus’ India portfolio. The Toyota Land Cruiser 300, launched in India in February 2025, is priced between Rs 2.16 crore and Rs 2.25 crore, while the Vellfire hybrid MPV, introduced in August 2023, retails between Rs 1.20 crore and Rs 1.30 crore.

Lexus’ more premium version of the Vellfire, the LM MPV, was launched in March 2024 and is priced between Rs 2.15 crore and Rs 2.69 crore. The RX SUV, introduced in April 2023, is priced from Rs 96 lakh to Rs 1.18 crore, while the NX, launched in March 2022, costs Rs 66.59 lakh–73.40 lakh. Both the NX 350h and LM received feature and E20 fuel compatibility updates earlier this year.

Toyota and Lexus dealers will contact affected owners to schedule the necessary software update, which will be performed free of cost. Owners can also check if their vehicle is affected by entering their VIN on the official Toyota or Lexus India websites.
