Toyota Launches Manual Transmission (MT) variant of the Toyota Legender 4X4

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has expanded its premium SUV lineup with the introduction of a Manual Transmission (MT) variant of the Toyota Legender 4X4. The new offering targets driving enthusiasts seeking greater control and engagement behind the wheel while maintaining the model's established luxury and off-road capabilities.

The Legender 4X4 MT is powered by Toyota's robust 2.8L diesel engine, delivering 204 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque. The addition of a 6-speed manual transmission aims to provide drivers with enhanced precision and control, particularly valuable when navigating challenging terrains.

"We are thrilled to unveil the new grade of the Toyota Legender, specifically designed in response to the evolving demands and preferences of our valued customers," said Mr. Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business. "This new addition of the MT variant will not only further boost the Legender's appeal but also reinforce Toyota's commitment to providing versatile solutions."

The Legender is the premium variant of Toyota's popular Fortuner SUV, which has been a cornerstone of Toyota's SUV portfolio in India for over a decade. While the standard Fortuner has dominated the full-size SUV segment, the Legender was introduced as a more upscale alternative with distinctive styling and additional premium features.

Since its initial launch in 2021, the Legender has carved out a niche for itself among buyers looking for a more sophisticated and feature-rich experience than the standard Fortuner offers. The model competes in the premium SUV segment alongside vehicles like the MG Gloster, Ford Endeavour, and higher variants of the Mahindra XUV700.

The introduction of the manual transmission variant responds to feedback from off-road enthusiasts and driving purists who prefer the direct engagement of a manual gearbox, especially in challenging terrain where precise control is valued.
First introduced to the Indian market in 2021, the Legender features Toyota's advanced 4X4 technology designed to handle diverse landscapes. The vehicle maintains its distinctive catamaran-inspired design elements, including bold front and rear bumpers, a piano-black grille, and signature LED lighting system with sequential turn indicators.

The interior continues to offer premium features with a dual-tone black and maroon theme, ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and an 11-speaker JBL sound system.

Available in Pearl White with a Black roof dual-tone finish, the Legender 4X4 MT is priced at Rs. 46,36,000 (ex-showroom). Bookings are now open at Toyota dealerships nationwide and through the Toyota Bharat website.
