Toyota Kirloskar Motor Reports 33% Growth in April Sales Despite Plant Shutdown

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sold 27,324 vehicles in April 2025, marking a 33% increase compared to the same month last year when the company sold 20,494 units. Domestic sales accounted for 24,833 units, while exports contributed 2,491 units.

The company achieved this growth despite a five-day maintenance shutdown from April 21-25, which was conducted to maintain operational efficiency, productivity, and safety standards.

Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at TKM, attributed the continued sales momentum to the company's "multi-pathway approach" offering diverse technology options that respond to changing customer preferences. He highlighted the positive market response to the recently enhanced Urban Cruiser Hyryder with its upgraded safety and convenience features.

The April performance follows TKM's strongest-ever fiscal year in India, reflecting increasing customer trust in the brand known for quality, reliability, and after-sales support.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan (89% equity) and India's Kirloskar Systems Limited (11% equity), operates two manufacturing plants in Bidadi near Bangalore with a combined annual production capacity of 342,000 units.

The company's first plant, established in 1997, manufactures the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, and Legender models. The second plant, which began operations in December 2010, produces the Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Hilux. TKM also sells locally manufactured models including the Glanza, Rumion, and Urban Cruiser Taisor, as well as imported vehicles like the Vellfire and LC 300.

With over 6,500 employees and facilities spanning approximately 432 acres, Toyota Kirloskar Motor continues to strengthen its position in the Indian automotive market through strategic product offerings and customer-focused initiatives.
