Toyota Kirloskar Motor Records Highest Calendar Year Sales in 2025
Automaker sells 388,801 units in 2025, marking 19% growth, with December sales reaching 39,333 units amid product portfolio expansion and market momentum.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor reported total sales of 39,333 units in December 2025, compared to 33,752 units in November 2025, reflecting a month-on-month increase of 16.5%. The December figure represents a 33% year-on-year growth from the 29,529 units sold in December 2024.
Domestic sales in December stood at 34,157 units, up from 30,085 units in November, while export volumes reached 5,176 units compared to 3,667 units in the previous month. The company sold 388,801 units in calendar year 2025, achieving 19% growth over the 326,329 units sold in 2024.
Calendar Year Performance
The 2025 annual sales comprised 351,580 units in the domestic market, representing 17% growth, and 37,221 units in exports, marking 42% growth. The company attributed the performance to demand across its SUV, MPV, and compact segments, with models including Innova Hycross, Fortuner, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Hilux, Urban Cruiser Taisor, and Glanza contributing to sales.
Product and Safety Developments
The automaker introduced several variants during the year, including the Land Cruiser 300, new GR-S grade, and Legender MT grade. It also launched editions such as the Hyryder Aero Edition, Innova Hycross Exclusive Edition, Fortuner Leader Edition, Camry Hybrid Sprint Edition, Hilux Black Edition, and Urban Cruiser Taisor in Bluish Black color.
Toyota Kirloskar standardized six airbags across all variants of the Rumion, Glanza, Urban Cruiser Taisor, and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Innova Hycross received a five-star Bharat NCAP rating during the year. The company also introduced a six-speed automatic transmission in the Urban Cruiser Hyryder AWD variant and added an electronic parking brake in certain AT variants.
Customer Engagement Initiatives
In November, the company hosted Drum Tao, a Japanese performance group and Toyota's brand ambassador, as part of a 13-city India tour featuring dance and musical performances in Chennai, Vijayawada, Shillong, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Kohima, Guwahati, Varanasi, Mumbai, Pune, Andaman, and Bengaluru.
The automaker unveiled the Toyota Experiential Museum (tem) on November 23, 2025, in Bangalore. The facility combines Japanese aesthetics with Indian philosophy through immersive rooms, merchandise displays, and a matcha café. The company also participated in anime conventions including Japan Habba, Anime India, and Mela Mela Japan, collaborating with titles such as Shin-Chan, Mameshiba, and Attack on Titan.
Market Context
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales, Service, Used Car Business and Profit Enhancement, credited the performance to progressive GST reforms by the Government of India, product enhancements, and dealer network expansion across rural and urban markets. The company expanded its Toyota Used Car Outlets (TUCO) network and value-added services including T CARE and T GLOSS.
Manufacturing Operations
Toyota Kirloskar Motor operates two manufacturing plants in Bidadi with a combined installed production capacity of 342,000 units annually. The first plant, established in October 1997, manufactures Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, and Legender with a capacity of 132,000 units. The second plant, operational since December 2010, produces Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Hilux with a capacity of 210,000 units.
The company employs 6,466 people and operates on approximately 432 acres with an 89% equity participation from Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan and 11% from Kirloskar Systems Limited of India. Models including Glanza, Rumion, and Urban Cruiser Taisor are manufactured through partnerships, while Vellfire and LC 300 are imported as completely built units.
The automaker stated it will focus on product portfolio enhancement, customer touchpoints, and engagement initiatives targeting younger demographics in 2026, while maintaining its commitment to decarbonization through a multipath approach offering various technologies for different customer needs.
