Three-wheeler Retails Grow 7% YoY; Ev Share Crosses 60%

Three-wheeler retail sales stood at 1,06,908 units in April 2026, registering a 7.19% year-on-year increase, according to Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) data.

On a month-on-month basis, sales declined 2.61%, in line with broader industry trends following the fiscal year-end.

Electrification remains a defining trend in the segment. Electric vehicles accounted for 60.38% of total three-wheeler sales in April, followed by CNG/LPG at 25.05%, diesel at 14.16% and petrol at a marginal 0.42%.

Within sub-segments, passenger carriers grew 36.48% YoY, while goods carriers expanded 27.23%, indicating strong demand across both mobility and last-mile logistics use cases. However, e-rickshaw passenger volumes declined 28.73% YoY, reflecting volatility within specific categories.

Rural markets grew 10.53% YoY, compared to urban growth of 3.22%, highlighting stronger demand outside metro areas.

The segment continues to benefit from last-mile mobility demand, e-commerce logistics expansion and policy-driven electrification.
