Tesla launches Model Y L at ₹61.99 lakh
The extended-wheelbase six-seater Model Y L expands Tesla’s India lineup, adding more cabin space, features and a claimed 681km WLTP range, as the company operates in a high-duty market with rising demand for premium SUVs.
Tesla has introduced a new six-seater version of the Model Y in India, expanding its current product range. The new variant, called the Model Y L, features an extended wheelbase and is priced at ₹61.99 lakh, according to the company’s website.
The Model Y L is positioned between the existing higher-end and more affordable versions of the Model Y. Its introduction reflects a broader shift in the Indian market, where buyers are increasingly opting for larger vehicles with added comfort and in-cabin features.
Tesla entered India less than a year ago with the imported Model Y. However, pricing remains relatively high due to import duties of up to 100%, placing the vehicle in a niche segment. The rear-wheel-drive version is priced at around ₹60 lakh, while the long-range rear-wheel-drive variant is priced at approximately ₹68 lakh.
The Model Y L comes with a claimed driving range of up to 681 km on the WLTP cycle.
The Model Y L measures 4,976 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,668 mm in height. Compared to the standard model, it is about 180 mm longer and 44 mm taller. The wheelbase has been extended by 150 mm to 3,040 mm, allowing for the addition of a third row. The laden ground clearance stands at 122 mm, which is 16 mm lower than the standard version.
The vehicle follows a 2+2+2 seating configuration. The second row includes a retractable armrest, along with power folding and heating functions. The third row offers a 50:50 split and includes features such as USB Type-C ports, cupholders, and C-pillar-mounted air-conditioning vents.
With the rear seats folded, the Model Y L provides up to 2,539 litres of cargo space. Both the second and third rows can be folded using controls in the cargo area. The vehicle also includes a 116-litre front trunk.
