Japanese electric vehicle manufacturer Terra Motors has launched its new electric three-wheeler, the KYORO+, in India. The unveiling took place at The Lalit hotel in New Delhi and was attended by several dignitaries, including BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla. The KYORO+, whose name is derived from a Japanese term meaning alertness and swift movement, is the latest addition to Terra Motors’ electric three-wheeler lineup, which includes the Y4A, Rizin, and Pace models.
The company aims to establish 100 dealerships across the country and increase its production capacity to 5,000 units per month by the end of 2025. It is also targeting a significant share in India’s electric three-wheeler market, which is valued at around USD 1.17 billion.
According to Go Suzuki, Managing Director of Terra Motors India, the company has already sold more than 100,000 L3-category vehicles, particularly in East India. With the KYORO+ launch, the company is entering the L5 segment, offering zero down payment financing through its dedicated financial service, Terra Finance.
The KYORO+ is designed to meet urban transport needs and offers a range of up to 200 kilometers on a single charge. It has a top speed of 55 km/h, accelerates from 0 to 28 km/h in 5.6 seconds, and can climb gradients of up to 22% when fully loaded. Additional features include spacious passenger seating and a large luggage compartment. Bookings are available on the company's official website and at authorized dealerships.
Toru Tokushige, Founder and CEO of Terra Motors, noted that India is a key market for the company, and it will continue to invest in local innovation and manufacturing.
Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Tokyo, Terra Motors operates production facilities in India, Japan, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. It serves markets across South and Southeast Asia. The company also runs Terra Charge, an EV charging infrastructure initiative, which aims to deploy 2,000 charging stations across India by 2026.
