TCS Partners with Tata Motors on Sustainability Platform

Tata Consultancy Services has entered into a five-year partnership with Tata Motors to advance the automaker's sustainability initiatives through digital transformation of environmental, social, and governance data management.

The collaboration centers on Tata Motors' Prakriti platform, which utilizes TCS Intelligent Urban Exchange (IUX) to digitize ESG data collection and reporting. The AI-powered system will enable automated compliance reporting, real-time monitoring capabilities, and data-driven sustainability analytics across Tata Motors' manufacturing plants and supply chain operations.

Tata Motors has committed to achieving net-zero emissions for passenger vehicles by 2040 and commercial vehicles by 2045. The company is implementing data-driven solutions to support carbon accounting, regulatory compliance, product footprinting, circularity initiatives, biodiversity preservation, and risk management—areas that have traditionally relied on manual processes.

The Prakriti platform will integrate ESG data into a unified system that computes emissions, manages regulatory reporting, and provides advanced sustainability analytics. Tata Motors plans to extend the platform across its supplier network while ensuring compliance with SEBI's Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting framework.

SJR Kutty, Chief Sustainability Officer at Tata Motors, stated that the partnership enables the company to embed intelligence and automation into sustainability operations, ensuring compliance and resilience across the automotive value chain.

The IUX platform has been configured specifically for automotive industry requirements, with domain expertise from Tata Motors informing the customization process. The system addresses challenges in capturing Scope 3 emissions from value chain partners and integrating sustainability data across tier 1, 2, and 3 supplier networks.

TCS reported consolidated revenues exceeding $30 billion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025. The company maintains over 200 sustainability solutions and works with organizations globally on emissions reduction and environmental goals.
