The new TATA.ev MegaCharger hub, located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport within The Leela Mumbai Hotel premises, represents the first co-branded charging facility between the two Tata Group companies.
The charging hub features eight fast DC chargers capable of speeds up to 120 kW, providing 16 charging bays that can accommodate simultaneous charging for multiple vehicles. The facility operates 24 hours a day and is powered entirely by renewable energy sources, according to the companies.
The strategic location targets various user segments including private car owners, taxi operators, ride-hailing services, and logistics companies. The site's proximity to the airport and the Andheri-Bandra Kurla Complex corridor positions it to serve business travelers and tourists.
Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, described the launch as part of an integrated approach to India's green mobility transition. He indicated that similar facilities are planned for other major cities as part of the company's commitment to expanding EV infrastructure.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of both TPEML and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., characterized the launch as a milestone in developing India's charging ecosystem, noting the long-standing partnership between the two companies in this sector.
The new hub adds to Tata Power's existing network of over 1,000 charging points in Mumbai. The company reports operating more than 5,500 public and captive EV charging points nationwide, along with 1.4 lakh home chargers and 1,200+ bus charging points across 630+ cities and towns.
Tata Power has announced plans to expand to 750,000 home chargers and 10,000 public charging points by 2030.
The charging services will be available through the Tata Power EZ Charge mobile application, which the company says has 400,000 registered users. TATA.ev vehicle owners will also be able to access the services through the iRA.ev Connected Car app.
The facility offers standard access to all EV users, with TATA.ev customers receiving additional benefits including discounts up to 25% and priority access to charging stations.
The MegaCharger initiative is positioned as part of TPEML's broader strategy to support India's electric vehicle adoption through infrastructure development.
