Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, in partnership with distributor Motus Holdings, has officially launched the Tata Osprey compact SUV in South Africa, priced from R249,900 (around ₹14.8 lakh).
The Osprey, known internationally as the Tata Nexon, marks an expansion of the carmaker's lineup following its return to South Africa. Tata Motors had initially confirmed the Osprey's launch in South Africa in the month of July 2026.
Tata Osprey Variants and Transmission Options
The SUV is being offered in four variants across manual and dual-clutch automatic transmissions: Smart+ MT, Smart+ DCA, Creative DCA and Creative+ PS DCA.
What Is TATA.CARS? Tata Motors' New Global Retail Brand
Alongside the product launch, TMPVL introduced its unified customer-facing global retail brand identity, TATA.CARS, designed to house its full passenger portfolio spanning hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, and electric vehicles under a single umbrella. The Osprey joins the brand's local showroom portfolio, which includes the Harrier, Curvv, Punch, and Tiago introduced last year.
Tata Osprey Features and Safety Ratings
Equipment on the Osprey includes a 26.03 cm digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, automatic climate control, cruise control, push-button start with passive entry, and a panoramic sunroof. The standard and optional safety suite features six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a 360-degree surround-view camera system with a blind-view monitor. The SUV also secured five-star crash test ratings under both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP testing protocols.
