Tata Nexon EV to Get ADAS Level 2 tech
New top-spec Nexon EV Empowered+ A 45 to join the line-up; will come with ADAS Level 2 tech
Tata Motors is gearing up to upgrade the popular Nexon EV SUV with ADAS Level 2 features. According to Motor Arena, dealers across the country have been briefed about the update, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
ADAS Level 2 tech will be introduced in the Nexon EV Empowered+ A 45 variant which will sit at the top of the range, building on the already Nexon EV Empowered 45 and Empowered Plus 45 trims. These variants are priced between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 17.19 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect prices for the ADAS Level 2 equipped Nexon EV variants to be higher than their non-ADAS counterparts.
Apart from inclusion of the ADAS tech the Nexon EV Empowered range already come with features like a JBL sound system with subwoofer, 360-degree surround-view camera with blind spot monitoring, a voice-assisted panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, V2V and V2L charging capability, the Arcade.ev app suite, and a cinematic touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The upcoming ADAS Level 2 upgrade will add semi-autonomous functions aimed at reducing driver fatigue and improving highway safety. Features will include, Adaptive cruise control, Lane keep assist and lane departure warning, Forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, Traffic sign recognition and High beam assist
Additionally, sources tell us that the Nexon EV special edition line-up that includes the Dark Edition and Red Dark Edition are also expected to receive ADAS tech.
Mechanically, the Nexon EV Empowered+ A 45 will remain unchanged, retaining the 45kWh battery pack with a real-world range of 350–375km with a 145hp, 215Nm motor.
There will not be any direct rival to the Nexon EV with ADAS Level 2 at launch. However, sources tell us that Tata Motors wants the Nexon EV with ADAS to take on the likes of the ADAS-equipped variants of the popular MG Windsor EV.
