Tata Motors secures third bus chassis order from UPSRTC
The company will supply 1,297 LPO 1618 bus chassis for intercity and long-distance travel.
Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has secured an order for 1,297 bus chassis from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). This marks Tata Motors' third significant order from UPSRTC within a year, with a cumulative total of over 3,500 units ordered.
The order, awarded through a competitive e-bidding process, includes Tata’s LPO 1618 diesel bus chassis, specifically developed for intercity and long-distance travel. These vehicles are recognized for their superior performance, passenger comfort, and low total cost of ownership (TCO). Delivery of the chassis will take place in phases under mutually agreed terms between Tata Motors and UPSRTC.
Anand S, Vice President and Head – Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors, said, “We thank the Uttar Pradesh Government and UPSRTC for giving us the opportunity to supply a modern fleet of bus chassis.” He added that the order is a powerful validation of its commitment to delivering class-leading mobility solutions. Our consistent performance and ability to meet UPSRTC’s evolving transportation needs demonstrate our technological prowess and reliability in the public transport ecosystem. “We look forward to commencing supplies as per the guidance of UPSRTC,” he said.
This order follows Tata Motors’ successful deliveries of 1,350 units in December 2023 and 1,000 units in October 2024, further cementing its position as a preferred mobility solutions provider for State Transport Undertakings (STUs) and fleet owners across India. The company’s range of mass-mobility solutions plays a key role in enhancing public transportation networks, connecting urban and rural regions and facilitating seamless travel for millions of citizens.
Part of the Tata Group, Tata Motors Ltd offers a diverse range of integrated, smart, and electric mobility solutions, solidifying its position as India’s market leader in commercial vehicles and a key player in the passenger vehicles segment.
