Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) has partnered with Tata Communications to integrate in-built 5G cellular connectivity into the newly launched Sierra.ev electric SUV.

Under the partnership, the Tata Communications MOVE Connected Vehicle Platform will be integrated with the automaker's proprietary software-defined vehicle (SDV) platform, N.IO. The deployment serves as the digital foundation for connected capabilities and artificial intelligence-enabled applications across the vehicle's lifecycle.

Sierra.ev's Connected Features: OTA Updates, Diagnostics and More

The connected platform will facilitate faster over-the-air (OTA) software updates, real-time remote vehicle diagnostics, emergency call systems, remote support services, secure in-cabin content streaming, and digital subscription management for vehicle owners.

"As vehicles become increasingly software-defined, highly intuitive digital connectivity and services will play a central role in shaping customer experiences," said Sven Patuschka, Chief Technology Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. "The Sierra.ev marks an important step in this evolution, and our collaboration with Tata Communications provides the robust digital backbone required to deliver seamless connectivity, continuous innovation, and enhanced in-vehicle experiences."
