Tata Motors Launches All-New Punch In South Africa
The all-new Tata Punch goes on sale in South Africa in three variants, with a naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engine option, and prices starting at R224,900.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPVL) has launched the all-new Punch in South Africa through its distribution partnership with Motus Holdings, with prices starting at R224,900 (approximately ₹11.4 lakh).
The updated subcompact SUV is available in three derivatives – Pure+, Adventure and Accomplished+ S – with two 1.2-litre petrol engine options. The range includes a naturally aspirated engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and, for the first time in South Africa, a turbocharged petrol engine with a six-speed manual transmission.
The naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 65kW and 115Nm of torque, while the turbocharged version develops 88kW and 170Nm. The turbocharged engine is exclusive to the range-topping Accomplished+ S derivative.
The three variants are priced as follows:

The South African-specification Punch receives wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard across all three variants. Depending on the derivative, the infotainment system features an 8-inch touchscreen or a 10.25-inch HD Harman unit.
Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard across the range. Tata Motors also states that the Punch carries a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating for adult and child occupant protection. Other safety features include electronic stability control, Hill Hold Assist, Hill Descent Control, tyre pressure monitoring and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages.
The updated model features a redesigned front grille, LED headlamps and daytime running lights, along with revised rear lighting and exterior detailing. Interior equipment includes a digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, rear AC vents and USB-C charging ports, with availability varying by derivative.
The Pure+ variant gets LED headlamps, touchscreen infotainment, a reversing camera and cruise control. The Adventure adds a 360-degree surround-view camera, Blind View Monitor, automatic climate control, push-button start and rain-sensing wipers. The top-spec Accomplished+ S receives larger digital displays and a voice-assisted sunroof, alongside the turbocharged engine.
All three derivatives are covered by a five-year/125,000km warranty and a two-year/30,000km service plan under Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles' TataMove ownership programme in South Africa. The programme includes roadside assistance, mobility support and nationwide service coverage.
The South African launch follows the recent introduction of the Tata Osprey in the market. The company is expanding its SUV portfolio through its partnership with Motus Holdings, which handles its distribution in the country.
