Tata Motors, Iveco Group Begin Operations as Global CV Enterprise
Tata Motors and Iveco Group bring together operations across 130 countries, with combined annual sales volumes of around 590,000 vehicles and revenues of approximately €21 billion.
Tata Motors and Iveco Group have begun operating as a combined global commercial mobility enterprise, bringing together their commercial vehicle portfolios, manufacturing operations and technology capabilities across more than 130 countries. The combined business has annual sales volumes of approximately 590,000 vehicles and revenues of around €21 billion (Rs 2.28 lakh crore).
The enterprise has 27 manufacturing facilities, 25 R&D centres and a network of approximately 9,300 sales and service centres. It employs more than 73,000 people across six continents and has been ranked the world's fourth-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer by truck sales volumes in the above-6-tonne segment.
The announcement was made at a global press meet in Turin, Italy, on November 3, 2026, attended by senior representatives of both companies.
N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, Tata Motors and Iveco Group, said the combined enterprise would focus on long-term investment and the exchange of engineering, technology and operational capabilities between the two organisations. The businesses will retain their individual brands and industrial identities while pursuing opportunities across their respective markets.
Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors, said the combination would bring together the companies' engineering, sourcing, distribution and customer network capabilities. He identified expanding market reach and accelerating the development of commercial vehicle technologies as key areas of collaboration.
Complementary Commercial Vehicle Portfolios
The combined business brings together Tata Motors' commercial vehicle operations in India and other emerging markets with Iveco Group's established presence in Europe and Latin America.
Tata Motors' portfolio covers cargo vehicles ranging from below one tonne to 55 tonnes, alongside passenger mobility solutions with seating capacities ranging from 10 to 51 passengers. Its established markets include India, Asia and the Middle East and North Africa.
Iveco Group contributes light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, as well as city and intercity buses. Its powertrain business, FPT, also operates across on-road and off-road applications, marine engines and power generation.
The combined portfolio is intended to provide a wider range of commercial vehicles, buses and powertrain solutions across different markets and customer applications.
Powertrain Technologies and Local Market Operations
The two companies' technology capabilities span conventional internal combustion engines, natural gas, battery-electric systems, hydrogen and other emerging low- and zero-emission powertrain solutions.
The combined technology base also covers software, connected technologies, alternative energy and manufacturing. The companies intend to share engineering expertise and develop solutions for different regulatory requirements, fuel availability and commercial vehicle applications.
Iveco Group will continue to be headquartered in Turin, Italy, with its existing brands, teams and industrial footprint retaining their identities. Tata Motors will support Iveco Group's existing strategy and investment plans, while the two organisations collaborate on technology, engineering and market opportunities.
Customer and Supplier Arrangements to Continue
The companies said existing customer contracts, dealer and supplier relationships, warranties, aftermarket commitments and captive financing solutions would continue unchanged following the transition.
Customers, dealers, suppliers and business partners will continue to be supported by their existing teams and networks.
Olof Persson, CEO of Iveco Group, said the partnership would allow the company to build on its existing brands, workforce and industrial capabilities while accessing Tata Motors' commercial vehicle expertise and international reach.
The immediate focus for the combined enterprise will be maintaining operational continuity, while its longer-term priorities include expanding customer choice, accelerating innovation and developing commercial mobility solutions across international markets.
