Tata Motors recorded commercial vehicle sales of 42,508 units in December 2025, compared to 33,875 units in December 2024, marking a 25% year-on-year increase. This follows November's performance of 35,539 units, which was 29% higher than the 27,636 units sold in November 2024. December sales represented a 19.6% increase over November.
For the third quarter of fiscal year 2026 (October-December), the company sold 1,15,577 units, up 21% from 95,770 units in the same quarter last year. The quarterly figure also reflected 22% sequential growth over Q2FY26.
Segment Performance
Heavy Commercial Vehicle trucks led December sales with 12,483 units, up 31% from 9,520 units in December 2024. In November, HCV trucks had recorded 10,181 units. For Q3FY26, HCV trucks reached 33,401 units, a 23% increase from 27,130 units in Q3FY25.
Intermediate Light and Medium Commercial Vehicle trucks posted December sales of 7,959 units, compared to 5,687 units in the year-ago period, reflecting 40% growth. November ILMCV sales stood at 5,905 units. The segment recorded 20,033 units in Q3FY26, up 26% from 15,897 units in Q3FY25.
Small Commercial Vehicle cargo and pickup sales reached 15,448 units in December, versus 13,018 units in December 2024, a 19% increase. November SCV sales were 13,327 units. Quarterly SCV sales totaled 43,793 units, compared to 38,232 units in the previous year, marking 15% growth.
Passenger carrier sales remained relatively stable, with 4,167 units sold in December 2025 versus 4,144 units in December 2024. November had seen 3,340 passenger carrier units sold.
Domestic and International Markets
Domestic commercial vehicle sales in December stood at 40,057 units, up 24% from 32,369 units in December 2024. November domestic sales were 32,753 units, which had shown 25% year-on-year growth.
International business sales reached 2,451 units in December, compared to 1,506 units in December 2024, registering 63% growth. This followed November's international sales of 2,786 units, which had recorded 92% year-on-year growth.
For Q3FY26, domestic sales totaled 1,07,918 units versus 91,260 units in Q3FY25, an 18% increase. International business contributed 7,659 units in Q3FY26, up 70% from 4,510 units in the year-ago quarter.
Market Outlook
Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors, attributed the performance to continued momentum from GST 2.0 implementation and festive season demand. He cited a rebound in construction and mining activity following an extended monsoon period, along with sustained demand from core sectors and auto logistics.
The company expects demand to strengthen in Q4FY26 across most commercial vehicle segments. Wagh pointed to government infrastructure initiatives and expansion in end-use sectors as key drivers for 2026. The company is banking on product portfolio optimization, pricing strategy, and market activations to maintain growth momentum.
