Tata Motors Body Solutions (TMBSL) has completed the first vehicle rollout for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) from its Lucknow plant, marking a production milestone for the facility and a new supply relationship between the two organisations.

The rollout ceremony was held at the plant and included a traditional puja seeking blessings for the programme ahead. Plant leadership and staff attended the event. RK Singh, Plant Head at the Lucknow facility, addressed the gathering and highlighted the team's commitment to quality standards in executing the order. Singh described the milestone as a result of collective effort and cross-functional collaboration within the plant.

About MSRTC: Maharashtra's State Bus Operator

MSRTC is one of India's largest state-run bus operators, responsible for passenger transport across thousands of routes in Maharashtra. The corporation operates a substantial fleet and periodically issues procurement contracts to commercial vehicle manufacturers and body builders to meet fleet renewal and expansion requirements. Contracts with state transport corporations are considered significant business for bus manufacturers, given the scale of orders typically involved.

TMBSL's Lucknow Plant and Bus Manufacturing Network

TMBSL, the body-building and bus manufacturing division of Tata Motors, operates production facilities at multiple locations across India. The company supplies buses and vehicle bodies to state transport undertakings, private operators, and institutional customers. The Lucknow plant, situated in Uttar Pradesh, has been part of TMBSL's manufacturing network and with this rollout adds MSRTC to its list of clients served from the facility.

The inclusion of MSRTC vehicles in the Lucknow plant's production schedule is likely to have implications for the facility's capacity utilisation and workforce deployment, though no specific figures on those metrics were made available at the time of the announcement.
