Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, and Tata International, the global trading arm of the Tata Group, have inaugurated a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Pune. Named Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, the facility is designed to safely dismantle up to 21,000 end-of-life vehicles annually, utilizing environmentally sustainable processes.
During the inauguration, Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, emphasized the company's focus on promoting sustainability through advanced recycling processes. “Re.Wi.Re reflects our commitment to creating a circular economy. It leverages innovative recycling methods to maximize the value of end-of-life vehicles while contributing to national sustainability goals. We are proud to extend our collaboration with Tata International through this initiative,” he stated.
Rajeev Batra, CEO of Tata International Vehicle Applications, highlighted the broader significance of the facility. He noted that the efficient recycling of vehicles is a critical aspect of India’s transition toward a cleaner and more organized ecosystem for vehicle end-of-life management. “This facility represents a pivotal step in addressing the growing need for safe and sustainable vehicle recycling. We are committed to fostering a regulated framework that benefits society and contributes to environmental sustainability,” he said
The Pune facility is part of a growing network of Re.Wi.Re centers, with others already operational in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi NCR. Each facility is fully digitalized. The operations include specialized stations for dismantling components such as tyres, batteries, and fluids, adhering to stringent safety and environmental standards outlined in India’s vehicle scrappage policy.
TIVA, which operates the Pune facility, is a leader in trailer manufacturing in India. Since its inception in 2005, the company has grown from supplying trailers exclusively to Tata Motors to serving diverse market needs, including defense and infrastructure sectors. With a reputation for high-quality engineering and innovation, TIVA has established itself as a key player in India’s commercial vehicle sector.
