Tata AutoComp Systems Limited has completed the acquisition of IAC Group (Slovakia) s.r.o through its British subsidiary, Artifex Interior Systems. The acquired entity, a key supplier to major automotive manufacturers including Jaguar Land Rover, Volkswagen, Audi, and Skoda, will be renamed Artifex Systems Slovakia s.r.o.
The deal, announced on 18 February 2026 in Pune, India, marks a significant step in Tata AutoComp's strategy to establish itself as a prominent player in the European automotive supply chain. The company has positioned the move as foundational to deeper expansion across the UK and European Union markets, aligning with its stated ambition to become the preferred partner for global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The acquisition brings together three Artifex operations — Artifex Systems AB in Sweden, Artifex Interior Systems in the UK, and the newly integrated Artifex Systems Slovakia — under a unified brand identity. Combined, the Artifex group now represents $1.3 billion in annual revenue and a workforce of approximately 4,100 employees across manufacturing facilities in the UK, Sweden, and Slovakia.
Arvind Goel, Vice Chairman of Tata AutoComp Systems, described the completion of the integration as "a significant step in building the Artifex brand and advancing our global growth strategy," adding that the group is now better positioned to deliver operational excellence and quality to global OEMs.
Manoj Kolhatkar, Managing Director and CEO of Tata AutoComp Systems, noted that the European businesses demonstrate "strong operational and cultural alignment," suggesting the integration would support faster decision-making and improved service delivery for the group's OEM clients in the region.
Alan Fennelly, Chief Executive Officer of Artifex Interior Systems, welcomed the Slovakian operation into the group, highlighting its skilled workforce and technical expertise as key assets in accelerating growth across next-generation vehicle platforms.
The development has also drawn comment from diplomatic quarters. Robert Maxian, Ambassador of Slovakia to India, expressed confidence that the Slovakian unit would continue to grow under Tata AutoComp's stewardship, and described the acquisition as evidence of the potential for deeper industrial cooperation between Slovakia and India. Apoorva Srivastava, India's Ambassador to Slovakia, echoed this view, saying the deal underscores the strong potential for bilateral industrial ties.
In a concurrent development, Artifex opened a new engineering centre in Gothenburg, Sweden on the same date, inaugurated by Goel. The facility is intended to strengthen Artifex's engineering and innovation capabilities across Europe and foster closer collaboration with regional customers and partners.
The Slovakia operation contributed $190 million in revenue with 800 employees prior to the acquisition, complementing Artifex's UK business ($300 million revenue, 1,800 employees) and its Sweden operations ($800 million revenue, 1,500 employees).
Established in 1995 and part of the Tata Group — India's largest conglomerate — Tata AutoComp operates 68 manufacturing facilities worldwide and employs more than 20,000 people. The group serves global OEMs across passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, electric mobility, and a range of other vehicle segments.
