Switch Mobility Unveils EiV9 Electric Bus Platform at Prawaas 5.0
New zero-emission bus incorporates variable reluctance motor technology and multiple battery configurations to target the expanding municipal and institutional fleet market.
Switch Mobility Limited has expanded its commercial vehicle lineup with the debut of the EiV9 electric bus at the Prawaas 5.0 transport exhibition in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The newly engineered nine-metre vehicle architecture is configured specifically for urban mass transit networks, corporate staff shuttle operations, and school contract mobility segments.
The mechanical framework pairs a lightweight structural chassis with a Permanent Magnet Variable Reluctance motor capable of generating up to 213 kW of peak power. The manufacturer offers the platform with multiple modular battery pack options. The electrical system supports regenerative braking energy recovery alongside dual-gun CCS2 direct current fast-charging interfaces to reduce total charging downtime during scheduled fleet rotations.
Ganesh Mani, Chief Executive Officer of SWITCH Mobility, noted that the nine-metre electric bus segment is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 34 per cent by the 2030 fiscal year, driven by steady transition mandates from private operators and municipal agencies.
For passenger safety and cabin refinement, the EiV9 incorporates standard full front and rear air suspension bags, dual-axle disc brakes, individual USB electronic charging ports, and a localized fire detection and suppression system. Depending on the institutional application, the interior cabin can be customized with standard commuter benches or ergonomic pushback seats for longer worker commutes.
The manufacturer also displayed an updated version of its larger EiV12 Intercity coach platform at the exhibition venue. The 12-metre long-distance platform features floor-mounted lithium iron phosphate battery chemistries to achieve a lower center of gravity, camera-based digital outside rear-view mirrors, and the proprietary SWITCH iON telematics software framework to provide fleet management teams with remote diagnostics and digital battery monitoring.
