Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) has started production of its first electric scooter, the Suzuki e-ACCESS, at its manufacturing facility in Gurugram.
The e-ACCESS was first displayed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and represents Suzuki's entry into India's electric two-wheeler market. The scooter is positioned as a mobility solution for urban commuting.
The vehicle uses Suzuki's e-Technology platform, featuring a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery designed for extended battery life and thermal stability. The scooter includes regenerative braking, a maintenance-free belt drive system, and the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector-e (SDMS-e) offering three riding modes—Eco mode, Ride mode A, and Ride mode B—plus a reverse mode.
Suzuki has conducted testing on the battery and components, including submersion, temperature extremes, drops, vibrations, motor bench, puncture and crush tests to ensure reliability.
The company states the e-ACCESS delivers consistent performance across all speeds, including at low battery levels, providing acceleration and handling for city traffic and open roads.
SMIPL is working with its existing dealer network to prepare for electric vehicle sales and service. Dealerships are being equipped with trained personnel and service infrastructure for electric two-wheeler customers.
Suzuki Motorcycle India, a subsidiary of Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation, began Indian operations in February 2006. The company operates from its Kherki Daula plant in Gurugram, Haryana, with an annual production capacity of 1.3 million units. SMIPL manufactures 125cc scooters, premium motorcycles of 150cc and above, and larger displacement motorcycles.
The Indian electric two-wheeler market has seen increased activity from manufacturers as the government promotes electric mobility through various incentive schemes and infrastructure development initiatives.
