Sonalika Tractors sold 12,581 tractors in August 2026, its highest volume for that month on record, the company said on September 2. The figure represents growth of approximately 15% over the 10,932 units the company sold in August 2025, and the company said it grew at 1.9 times the rate of the overall industry during the month.
Alongside the sales numbers, the company reported its highest-ever monthly production output of 18,067 tractors at its manufacturing plant in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, which the company describes as the world's largest integrated tractor manufacturing facility.
"We are excited to have delivered our best-ever August overall sales of 12,581 tractors, surpassing industry growth by 1.9X in August 2026," said Raman Mittal, Joint Managing Director of International Tractors Limited, the parent company of Sonalika Tractors. "Simultaneously, we have also achieved our highest-ever monthly production record of 18,067 tractors."
The company said the production milestone was aimed at building inventory ahead of the festive season, typically a period of higher consumer demand in India. It has launched a festive sales promotion called 'Heavy Duty Dumdaar Dhamaka' targeting farmers looking to purchase tractors during the October–November period.
Sonalika Tractors was founded in 1996 in Hoshiarpur and has since grown into one of India's leading tractor brands. The company exports to more than 150 countries and is categorised as India's top tractor export brand by volume. It is also listed among India's Fortune 500 companies.
In August 2025, the company recorded what was then its highest-ever August sales of 10,932 units, driven by 28% domestic growth. That performance was also accompanied by a transparency initiative in which the company began publishing service costs and spare parts pricing on its website — building on an earlier move to disclose tractor prices publicly.
India is the world's largest tractor market by volume. Tractor demand in the country is closely tied to agricultural activity, rural income levels, and the progress of the monsoon season. The festive months of September through November typically account for a significant portion of annual tractor sales.
